Substance Designer Texture Not Tiling
Visible seams when the material repeats
Also known as: Designer not tileable · Substance Designer seam · Designer tiling problem · Designer Transformation 2D tiling · Substance Designer seamless · Designer edges not matching
Quick answer
A Substance Designer graph stops tiling when a node cuts or fills the edges instead of wrapping them. Check each node that moves or transforms the image: on Transformation 2D, set the Tiling Mode to tile in both directions, and use nodes that tile correctly. Blur HQ and other edge-aware nodes are safe, but a crop, warp or noise with the wrong settings can break the seam. Find the node where the seam first appears by previewing the graph step by step.
How to fix it
Use the 2D view with tiling enabled to see repeats, and check each branch of the graph. For photographs, use the Make It Tile nodes. Keep the output resolution a power of two and in a relative size so the graph scales cleanly. After exporting, test the maps in a 3D tile preview or in Substance Painter. Seams often appear where a pattern spawner has been given positions outside the 0 to 1 area without wrapping.
