Decimation Master

Reduces ZBrush polygon counts while keeping detail

Also known as: ZBrush Decimation Master · ZBrush reduce polycount · ZBrush decimate · ZBrush Keep UV decimation · ZBrush export high poly

Definition

Decimation Master is a ZBrush plugin that reduces the polygon count of a sculpt while keeping its visual detail. It first pre-processes the mesh and then decimates it to a percentage, producing a lighter version that looks nearly the same. It is used to make a dense sculpt small enough to export for baking, to share or to use as a high-poly in another program, and it has an option to keep UVs.

In production

Pre-process each SubTool, then decimate with the percentage you need, and turn on Keep UV if the model has UVs. Use it on the final, high-detail sculpt, not on a mesh you will keep editing, since the result is triangulated and uneven. It is not a replacement for retopology, so a game-ready mesh needs clean topology made by hand or with ZRemesher. Export the decimated high-poly for baking.
