Bake Group
Pairs a low-poly with its high-poly in Toolbag
Also known as: Marmoset bake group · Toolbag bake group · Marmoset low high group · Bake group Toolbag · Toolbag baking setup
Definition
A bake group in Marmoset Toolbag is a container that holds one low-poly mesh and the high-poly meshes that should be baked onto it. Each group is baked separately, with its own settings for resolution, samples, cage and offset, and a project can have several groups. Separate groups stop one part of an asset from picking up detail from another, and they make it easy to bake a whole kit in one go.
In production
Create one group per separate low-poly or per material, name the groups clearly and set their outputs, such as normal, ambient occlusion, curvature, thickness and position. Check each group's settings individually, since different parts may need different offsets. Bake groups in Toolbag work like the match-by-name setting in Substance Painter, which pairs the parts by name instead.
