Apply Scale in Blender
Fix stretched bevels and uneven modifier results
Also known as: Blender apply transforms · Blender Ctrl A scale · Blender bevel stretched · Blender non uniform scale · Blender scale not 1
Quick answer
If a bevel looks uneven, a texture is stretched or an Array, Solidify or physics modifier behaves strangely, the object probably has a scale other than 1. In Object Mode press Ctrl+A and choose Scale, or All Transforms, to apply it. The object keeps its shape, but the mesh now holds the real size and the scale returns to 1, 1, 1.
How to fix it
Check the Scale values in the N panel before using modifiers, mirroring or exporting, and apply them early in the modeling process. If the Apply option is greyed out, the mesh data is shared by several objects, so make it single user first. A negative scale flips normals, so recalculate them after applying. Applying scale is also the first step before exporting to Unreal or Unity.
