Two Sided Material in Unity
Show a surface from both sides in URP and HDRP
Also known as: Unity double sided material · Unity render face both · Unity back face not showing · Unity plane invisible from behind · Cull off Unity
Quick answer
To make a surface visible from both sides in Unity URP, open the material and set Render Face to Both in Surface Options. By default Unity culls back faces, so a plane, leaf card or single-sided wall vanishes when you look at its back. In a Shader Graph material, set Render Face to Both in the Graph Settings of the Graph Inspector; in HDRP use Double-Sided in the material's Surface Options.
How to fix it
Render Face Both costs more because the back faces are drawn too, and the back side of a one-sided mesh may light incorrectly, so check how it looks from behind. For a solid object, real thickness is usually a better answer. If a closed mesh looks inside out, the normals are flipped, and Render Face will not fix that. The old Built-in Standard shader has no such option, so use a double-sided shader or model the back faces.
