ProBuilder
Greybox and blockout modeling inside Unity
Also known as: Unity ProBuilder · Unity greyboxing · Unity blockout tool · Level blockout Unity
Definition
ProBuilder is a Unity package for modeling meshes directly in the editor. Level and environment artists use it to build greybox spaces quickly, with simple shapes, extrusion, beveling and cutting that can be tested in the game right away. The result is a normal mesh that can be exported to a 3D tool for final modeling or replaced by finished assets. It is meant for blockouts and prototyping, not for final art.
In production
Block out rooms, corridors and cover to test scale, flow and sightlines before any art is made, and use the correct units so a door is the right height for the character. Keep greybox pieces on a grid and name them clearly, since they will be replaced piece by piece. When the layout is approved, export the meshes to Blender or Maya as a reference for the modular kit.
