IMM Brush

Insert Multi Mesh brush for placing prefab details

Also known as: ZBrush IMM · ZBrush Insert Multi Mesh · ZBrush insert brush · ZBrush IMM curve brush · ZBrush kitbash brush

Definition

An IMM brush, short for Insert Multi Mesh, is a ZBrush brush that places a library of premade meshes onto a model with a click or a drag. Each mesh in the brush, such as a rivet, a screw, a pipe or a piece of armor, is inserted as a new SubTool or as part of the current one. IMM brushes speed up kitbashing and detailing, and Curve variants repeat a mesh along a curve, which is useful for chains, stitches and rivets.

In production

Build your own IMM brushes from SubTools you use often, such as rivets, bolts and ornaments, and save them to your library. Use them for hard-surface details, props, jewelry and environment kitbashing, and merge or dynamesh the result afterwards when needed. Insert brushes place geometry in the mesh's current resolution, so mind the polygon count of what you insert.
