  1. 1.Prepare a clean humanoid mesh in Blender or Maya — manifold geometry with no open edges, in T-pose
  2. 2.Upload to Mixamo, place the five rig markers (chin, wrists, groin, left elbow), and generate the auto-rig
  3. 3.Download the rigged character as FBX with skin weights embedded and test deformation in Blender
  4. 4.Browse the animation library, download clips Without Skin for use with your already-rigged character
  5. 5.Import character and animations into UE5 using the Mixamo-to-UE5 retargeting workflow to map onto UE5 Mannequin

Quick Tip

When uploading a character mesh for auto-rigging, submit it in a T-pose with arms angled 45° downward rather than fully horizontal — Mixamo's solver produces cleaner shoulder and armpit weight distribution with this subtle adjustment, reducing cleanup time in engine.

Setup Notes

  • - Always download animations in "Without Skin" mode after the first rigged download — this keeps file sizes small and lets you apply any animation from the library to your single rigged character FBX
