Missing Textures in Blender

Pink textures after moving or opening a file

Also known as: Blender pink texture · Blender missing files · Blender textures not loading · Blender find missing files · Blender pack resources

Quick answer

A pink texture in Blender means the image file cannot be found at the path stored in the .blend file. Use File > External Data > Find Missing Files and point Blender at the folder that contains the textures, and it will relink them. To prevent it, use Make Paths Relative before moving a project, or Pack Resources to embed the images inside the .blend file.

How to fix it

Keep textures in a folder next to the .blend file and use relative paths so the project survives being copied to another computer. Packing makes the file larger but safe to share, and you can unpack it later. If only one image is pink, open it in the Shader Editor or Image Editor and check its file path. Procedural textures do not use files and never go pink.
