Array Modifier
Repeats an object in a line or around a shape
Also known as: Blender array · Blender repeat object · Blender array curve · Blender array offset
Definition
The Array modifier repeats an object a set number of times, or until it fills a length or follows a curve. Relative Offset moves each copy by a fraction of the object's size, Constant Offset by a fixed distance, and Object Offset by another object's transform, which is how circular arrays are made. With Merge on, copies whose edges touch join into one continuous mesh. It is used for fences, chains, stairs, tiles and railings.
In production
Model one clean piece with a correct pivot, then repeat it with the Array, and add a Curve modifier to bend it along a path. Apply the scale before using an Array so the offsets behave as expected. For game assets, repeated geometry can be left as separate instances in the engine, which is cheaper than baking a long array into one mesh.
