Quick Tip

When photographing real surfaces for Sampler, shoot with diffuse overcast lighting rather than direct sunlight — harsh directional light bakes lighting into the albedo and makes the AI's light removal algorithm work harder, producing less accurate results.

Setup Notes

  • - Set output resolution to 2048x2048 minimum in the Project Settings before starting — upscaling from lower resolutions after AI map inference introduces compression artifacts
  • - Use the Micro-surface layer to add procedural high-frequency detail on top of photo-captured surfaces — this adds the subtle grain and micro-bump that photographs often fail to capture
