Dungeons & Dark Locations
7 images
A moody graveyard scene centred on a carved stone obelisk and a cluster of gnarled, sculpted trees. The obelisk carries the scene's central mystery — it was sculpted in ZBrush with runic detail, then clay-rendered to check that the carved symbols stayed readable before colour work — while the surrounding trees were built from separately sculpted trunk and branch pieces so they could be scattered without visible repetition. Final lighting and assembly happened in Unreal Engine 5, with the tower and tree silhouettes doing most of the work to sell the "magic cemetery" premise against a flat, misty backdrop.
Seven images document the scene, including two full scene renders from different angles around the obelisk and two separate tree sculpts (one full tree, one broken into parts) to show how the same twisted-branch language was reused rather than sculpted fresh for every trunk in frame. Reusing a hero sculpt's language across secondary assets is a core efficiency lesson in the 3D Environment Masterclass, and it is one of the pieces grouped under Dungeons & Dark Locations for its heavier, moodier lighting compared to the daytime scenes elsewhere in the gallery — proof that the same modular-reuse discipline applies just as much to dark, atmospheric spaces as it does to bright, sunlit ones shown elsewhere in the gallery.
