Dungeons & Dark Locations
8 images
A companion piece to the Fire Boss Room, built around a wide dungeon hall lined with carved stone columns and skull ornamentation. The columns went through a full sculpt-to-clay-render pass in ZBrush before the skull details were layered in, keeping the heavy stonework readable even under the scene's dominant orange lava light. As with the boss room, final assembly and lighting happened in Unreal Engine 5. Building it as a separate but stylistically matched space let the same lava-dungeon visual language stretch across a full level rather than living in a single isolated arena.
Eight images track the piece from column sculpt through to three separate main scene renders taken at different points along the hall, showing how the lighting and column rhythm hold up as a player would actually move through the corridor rather than just from one fixed hero angle. Matching a new space's material language to an existing one — reusing the same column, skull, and lava-glow vocabulary from the Fire Boss Room — is a discipline covered directly in the 3D Environment Masterclass. It sits alongside the Fire Boss Room in the Dungeons & Dark Locations category, and the two pieces are best viewed together as a matched pair rather than as two unrelated dungeon rooms.
